MAN 2 Yogyakarta Strengthens Curriculum Development to Enhance Educational Quality

Yogyakarta, Indonesia (MAN 2 Yogyakarta) — MAN 2 Yogyakarta has reaffirmed its commitment to improving educational quality through the 2026 Curriculum Development Team (TPK) Workshop, held on Thursday (February 19, 2026) at the school’s Broadcasting Room.

The program, which began at 08:00 a.m. local time, brought together school leaders, curriculum specialists, and teachers who serve as key members of the Curriculum Development Team. The initiative positions them at the forefront of strengthening the madrasa’s learning system.

In her opening remarks, Head of MAN 2 Yogyakarta, Hartiningsih, emphasized that institutional strengthening must be strategic, data-driven, and impact-oriented. Referring to guidance from the Directorate of Islamic Education (KSKK), she highlighted the importance of process quality in achieving meaningful outcomes.

“Education is highly dependent on the quality of its processes. Without significant processes, meaningful impact cannot be achieved,” she stated.

Hartiningsih also underlined the importance of public trust in shaping a madrasa’s reputation. According to her, institutions that fail to sustain strong branding often struggle due to weak public perception and service quality.

“The public ultimately defines a madrasa’s brand. Therefore, we must ensure that our educational services are strong, consistent, and well-directed,” she added.

She further explained that curriculum development serves as the foundation for delivering quality education. For the 2026/2027 academic year, the curriculum is being developed based on Minister of Religious Affairs Decree (KMA) No. 1503 of 2025, which updates KMA No. 450 of 2024. One key shift includes the transition from the P5RA framework to a stronger emphasis on co-curricular activities.

“This change must be clearly understood so that its implementation in classrooms can be effective and impactful,” she noted.

The session highlighted that curriculum is no longer viewed merely as a technical document, but as a strategic instrument for improving both educational quality and institutional branding. Emphasis on data analysis ensures that curriculum design aligns with students’ needs and future challenges, enabling measurable learning outcomes.

The policy transition from KMA 450/2024 to KMA 1503/2025 reflects the government’s effort to promote more contextual, flexible, and competency-based learning approaches. In this regard, the Curriculum Development Team plays a crucial role in translating policy into practice at the school level.

The main session was delivered by Evi Effrisanti, who provided a comprehensive overview of the strategic role of the team in designing and implementing the Madrasa Operational Curriculum (KOM). She stressed the importance of aligning learning outcomes, instructional strategies, and assessment methods with student needs.

The workshop continued with a hands-on curriculum drafting session led by Fajar Basuki Rahmat and Sri Narwanti. Participants actively worked on reviewing and developing key components, including curriculum structure, learning objectives pathways (ATP), and instructional tools.

Discussions were dynamic and constructive, ensuring that the resulting curriculum documents are practical, relevant, and aligned with national education policies as well as the specific needs of the madrasa.

This initiative forms part of MAN 2 Yogyakarta’s broader strategy to strengthen a culture of quality and innovation in education. The institution is recognized for its multi-typology excellence, including academic achievement, research, Qur’anic memorization (tahfidz), broadcasting and multimedia skills, child-friendly education, sports special classes (KKO), accelerated programs, environmental initiatives (Adiwiyata), and its recent designation as a Corruption-Free Zone (WBK).

Through this workshop, the Curriculum Development Team is expected to optimize its role across all stages of curriculum management—from planning and implementation to continuous evaluation.

The event concluded with a shared commitment among participants to foster innovation and collaboration in developing a curriculum that delivers real impact on student learning outcomes.

With a strong spirit of transformation and professionalism, MAN 2 Yogyakarta continues to advance toward becoming a leading, adaptive, and globally competitive madrasa.
